About Me

Originally from Kentucky, I moved to Tennessee in 2012, where I took a job as a support coordinator for individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities. I later went to graduate school at Middle Tennessee State University, where I received a Master’s Degree in Social Work and a graduate certificate in Women’s and Gender Studies. I’ve worked in a broad range of settings before focusing on my work in private practice, including treatment centers for substance use disorders and trauma, re-entry programs, and with incarcerated populations.

Though I think my journey to social work actually started when I was very young, my professional journey began in 2008, when I worked as a photojournalism intern for a nonprofit organization in Zambia. I was finishing my degree in journalism and learned through that internship that I felt more drawn to building relationships and working directly with people than telling their stories.

I now live in Nashville with my partner and three chihuahua rescues (Birdie, Tofu, and Jacob) and a semi-feral cat (Corndog)! I love animals and am most connected to myself when I am in nature. When I’m not at work, you can find me hiking, camping, thrifting, napping, watching a documentary, or eating my way through Nashville’s vegan food. Also an avid reader, I can probably recommend a book to you about almost anything!
